The playoff game against Chicago last year was a start to a thing some of us want to do alot better and alot more of..
Last year I spent about $240 on my two banners(one middle of the season & the two on the left above) and alot of the other guys that have made banners(Thoma, Kev, Danza, etc.) are starting to get it down on how we can make larger ones. After getting this down in under a week of preparation, I think in the offseason we could do many, exceedingly more professional demostrations.
Thoma has already started on his efforts in the TIFO department. I here he is making over 50 of these in the offseason. All different designs:
My next project is going to be massive for the offseason. I want our group to completely blow people away next year:
I will be making something of this size, probably with my usual crew of help. I have done two projects with the size of six king size bedsheets. I'm getting it down on how to make this big and were all getting it down on how to use the projectors and getting better at it:
Here is what I posted in bigsoccer in reply to the Polish TIFO above:
I'm figuring we could do bigger banners like this next year. All you would have to do is do the projector parts on one sheet each. Then adhere them to a bigger fabric and then you can paint the writing and other simpler things on the bigger fabric, leaving space for the projector fabrics that your going to adhere to the bigger fabric.
With faces and all that, wouldn't be hard to adhere to a bigger fabric. And, split fabrics and the work up on the writing or whatever around it. Like do one side one night(like 3 or 4 queen size bedsheets the one night adhere together-can fit in 9Rush's garage) let it dry over two days, do the other side(same size) then let it dry over two days. And, a third and fourth if needed. Then do the projector part. Then adhere it to the middle with adhesive glue or adhesive spray (the stuff stays stuck together as well, my first one I made has been through hell over two games and is still stuck together fine.)
I'm going to make a huge one for our games next year(hopefully a cpl) like this size, probably not about the rivals so they can self-genuflect, but about the team. I can guarentee that. I think with each one that myself, thoma, kev & tony danza, have done we have gained some confidence and know how.
Expect big things next year folks.
Already have an idea submitted by Ultra, although I'll probably lean towards a team one first:
Think this is a good idea though. I said:
Might be a good call. Could easily make each one's symbol. Kev and Danza already have some experience in that as they made Chicago's with a projector on their good night, red white one. (above)
All you would have to do is increase the size of each logo on the projector onto one sheet then make room for a cross out sign, outline it, paint each one seperately, then adhere to your bigger fabric of above size. Since we don't have enough room to work on one fabric of this size. You split up the fabric its going to be adhere on into two, then adhere them together.
I'm thinking some face ones would be cool though of like Guillermo and Frankie. Or a face of something with writing towards Chicago, TFC, or one of our rivals
If you want to help the effort let me know. I'll probably get started on this, on my winter break starting dec. 20.

Can I suggest not posting on the blog exactly WHAT your Tifo is going to be? I think it kind of ruins the surprise element of it all.
I have to post something to generate more interest in the idea in the offseason.
There isn't anything in here that says EXACTLY WHAT our Tifo is going to be. Those are two of a lot of those that Thoma is making.
Mine, like I said is going to be something about the team. I'm just throwing out ideas to try to get more people(not connected with me) interested in the idea and making it themselves in the offseason as well.
Just a taste.
We didn't post the TIFO's for Chicago beforehand and I won't for this as well. I just want other people to think of doing this as well.
Sounds good.
We also need to make sure everyone puts their heads together to create some new chants.
I like the chants we have right now, and I'd really like to see somebody come up with something that is distinctly ours, as a lot of MLS chants are too similar to those in England. We need something that is more American.
i think i could find some guys who would love to help out i really want to learn how to make banners i have the ideas as you can see from all of the BGM pics i made i just need to know how
Hey, I'm looking to make a more substantial effort in helping/promote our Nordecke. Studying at ONU but live in Columbus, and offering labor hours and some money. Let me know if you need some help over holiday break. Email is s-mabe@onu.edu or bigsoccer id is onurx10
Thanks, I'll let you know. If you want to contribute to the site, let me know as well. I can give you access to write articles.
