Plotkin made 23 appearances over two years with the Fire and the Crew are giving the Indiana University former player a shot to impress after he was waived by the Fire on the 5th of August.

--The European contacts of Russian goalkeeper coach Vadim Kirillov might pay off before the end of the season. The Crew is said to be in the early stages of attempting to trial a defender from Moldova and a forward from Ghana, both of whom are out of contract after previously playing in Ukraine. It’s possible, however, that visa issues could keep the pair from Columbus. It’s also possible neither could be signed before the Sept. 15 roster deadline and would instead be looked at for next season.
