Some advice on the Chicago boards. Apparently they believe the Crew fans are a bunch of thiefs who like to steal scarfs and banners. I don't know what the heck sort of use a Crew fan would have with a Section 8 banner? "Go Blanco" signs don't really fit in the Nordecke. But, I suggest all Crew fans to keep on their toes for their own safety and be aware of your surroundings as well.
I believe that the above link's advice is some that all Crew fans should likewise follow tomorrow. Think about it, a homeowner doesn't in a friendly manner, invite someone they think is a thief over for a beer. So any friendly fire fan gestures are fake gestures for other purposes, it's safer to have reciporcal expectations of them than to be let down by losing your scarf or etc. So please pass the be safe and aware notion onto others who may not be as up on past trips.
Unfornately I find it necessary to warn people after the last Toronto trip. Because of the West Ham game with their fans coming into our section and how that was blown out of proportion by the international and local media(I think the only punches thrown were a few wiffs and one Crew fan vs. Crew fan), everyone is looking(for some lame reason) to take a crack at our fans. Toronto is an excellent example, at that away game half of our group were families and we were being sheperded out by security, but they decided to assault us anyways. For anyone going to the game tomorrow or anytime home or away with rival or any fans, I suggest the following for your safety as well as the safety of your belongings:
1.) Get rid of scarf exchanges. In Toronto, an amicable Crew fan exchanged a scarf with an amicable Toronto fan. Then, another Toronto fan as the Crew fans were walking out thought that the only way a Crew fan could get a TFC scarf is by stealing it. Next thing you know they are wrestling the guy for the TFC scarf.
For one, I don't know why anyone would ever want a Toronto scarf. Same goes for DC, Chicago, or any other team.
Bets are that the amicable Toronto, Chicago, or DC fan your exchanging a scarf with on a Saturday is probably wiping their butt with it or burning it on Sunday.
Don't let this be your scarf. (Montreal v. TFC)
I hold onto mine like it's a prized possession, everyone should do the same.
So I don't care how much anyone wants to be buds with any away fans(not my fortay except for maybe a friendly handshake if one is offered my way, however, I know some people have to be best friends with everyone), just don't exchange scarfs ever.
2.) Stay within the section or in the concessions by our stands. In the above thread you will notice that "Monterrey Security" or what have you is going to try to deflect anyone who goes past the middle of the stadium. I suspect that it will be easier to spot us then Chicago fans that want to start trouble with our fans. So...
3.) Even though it's a long drunk bus ride(which will make us less sharp) keep your eyes open and keep all the banners in front of us. And, if everyone at half time needs to take a leak. Don't all go at once.
4.) And, don't go anywhere inside or outside the stadium alone.
5.) Support the team, don't worry about their fans(it's like America worrying about Luxembourg anyways), no fighting. I want everyone to get on the bus and get back on the bus. Kevin is running with a strict time table. If anyone does anything dumb, even if you think they started it(doesn't matter). If you get in trouble, your staying in Chicago and getting the next greyhound back.
5.) Have fun. Be loud for the boys, they appreciate it. Let's bring back the supporters shield. Should be a good time with about 200 black and yellow clad in the corner.
See you all in four hours. I doubt I will be getting much if any sleep tonight.

this might make sense if you learned to write in english
Funny post. But we're not TFC. No one hear claims to be hooligans and I have my doubts that anyone in Chicago would "wrestle" you if they saw you wearing a Fire scarf. I'm not big on the scarf swapping either and I certainly have no use for other MLS scarves but some of the peeps up in Canada are all about that shit.
so much for "hooligans...
1 stolen flag
1 stolen scarf
F*re fans are pure class.
Does that make the thread on soccer-pubs ironic? Probably not. Thieves always assume that everyone else steals too.
i love how we're the "thieves" but they're the ones flying one of OUR flags in their section. It's only cause they know deep down they're all CREW SUPPORTERS!!!! Oh and thanks for lettin us take over your corner to make a NORDECKE in Chicago!!!! PISS ON THE FIRE!!!!
I didn't really care at all about them having a checkered Crew flag. They could have bought that at a local store or picked them up in July(those are FO flags, that we just leave lying around because they have no use or belong to the fans) so kudos on getting that.
And, the scarf that the little 15 year olds stole was from a girl who walked up to this little group of 15 year olds by herself.
This little group of 15 year olds also attempted to throw dirt and rocks at disinterested Crew fans attempting to board their bus.
All I did was laugh, say "that's cute," and get on the bus.
nah i don't either, it was funny as hell! i loved seen the black and gold in their section! lol
Btw, my title might have been taken out of context. I was trying to make the point that people that think we support that sort of thing are sad. And, if your fans wanted to pretend to be casual's or something of the sort, and steal our things then that's sad.
But, I came off rather impressed that Chicago didn't care about us or we with them. The only thing anyone was concerned about was the on the field action and that's how it should be.
Hey crew fans, What is with the big banner that said columbus 08 in red and white that your section flashed for 5 minutes before the game? That wasn't stolen was it?
I have to say though you are really developing now, for the 2 years I have travelled to your town, your fans had nothing but 2 color flags, no real tifo. So now you travel with banners congrats...
I don't understand why you said on BS I was making a mountain out of a molehill, when you expressed similar concern on this post.
But anyway, that being behind us, i'm glad the crap was limited sunday. I'd like to thank Crew fans for being civil and helping prevent excessive stupidity. (although you guys need new anti-fire chants, piss on the fire can only be in for so long)
el tiger, the banner said Columbus something. It wasn't a Chicago banner.
I'm not exactly sure why it was red. Some people carry state of Ohio flags(one guy had one draped around his back) and maybe it had some sort of reference to our capital colors, red, white, and blue is used by the Blue Jackets as well.
I'm not exactly sure. Or maybe they made a Columbus banner in Chicago colors. I don't really get that.
If anything it was probably just a poorly formulated banner by someone who never made banners before. It looked like crap from what I remember. But, I remember looking at it and having it say "Columbus."
rednow4ever, my thinking was people that bring it up are more likely to do it. My main concern wherever we go is after West Ham it seems like we have a big target on our backs and really it's not something we are into. I personally want all this crap to stop. I enjoyed myself alot more in Chicago, then Toronto because we didn't have to go through a guantlet of asses to get to our bus.
Also, your Sector Latino while we were behind our fence just chilling waiting to get on the bus. Ran up to all of us in attack mode and started throwing rocks (thought I was in Palestine for a second).
But, we kind of all just laughed at it. Because they had terrible aim, were far away, and they were all like 15. They got away with a drunk girls scarf who I guess walked over to tell them to stop throwing rocks. Who throws rocks? (If you don't believe me. Ask your security who intercepted them. Who you also prob. won't believe.) We were just minding our business trying to get on the bus, we were on a strict time table. And, I they were stomping on a checkered flag brought by the FO with a mean face. Bad ass!
Anyways, it's whatever. That sort of crap gets old real quick.
