New York Times on Guillermo Winning MVP
LA Weather Sweet For Crew
"This is perfect. I grew up in this. I grew up training on all these fields. It's like being back home. It's really exciting," said Rogers of nearby Huntington Beach. "It's good to be out here three or four days before the game. For me this is normal. When I'm back in Columbus it's abnormal."
Is it an advantage that a substantial part of the Crew is from California?
Few MLS Tickets Remain
Oh, rly? They should check on the bigsoccer Crew tickets thread.
Leadership Most Important For MVP Schelotto
"He was the best player in the league," defender Gino Padula said of his fellow countryman Schelotto. "He had a very good season. He deserves this trophy."
Schelotto is the first Crew player to be named MVP. He was also MLS Player of the Week three times and the Player of the Month for August.
"What's important for me is the championship. That would make this special," he said.
Crew officials estimate between 750 to 1000 Crew fans at MLS Cup.
Sad, I can't be one of them.
Ask and you shall receive, good stuff here on Goff's blog about Schelotto's future
"That is something we are going to talk to ownership about this week," McCullers said. "I don't think anyone questions the value of Schelotto. The question is the impact on our team with the DP salary implications and what we would have to do to accommodate a DP on our roster. It's obviously a very important factor for us. We have got a lot of good young players and we don't want to compromise the overall integrity of the team. So we've got a couple scenarios that we are looking at and see what our options are. I wouldn't say that if we don't exercise the option that we won't sign him anyway [by re-working the deal.] He genuinely wants to be here next year and we genuinely want him here next year. We have explained the implications of the decisions we make going forward and that we want to try to work it out with him. I am extremely hopeful that he will be back. We will have to make those decisions and set a course in the next couple weeks for how we are going to get him re-signed."
Said Schelotto: "After the final, we will sit down and talk."
He said he would like to play one or two more years and, speaking about being with the Crew, "I like the city, I like the country, I like the stadium." He then paused and smiled before saying, "And I like the media."
Asked about the contract, "I don't know the decision of the league and my future. It's all about speaking."
Charging Bulls or A Load of Bull? Cough, cough, load of bull.
