Wrong Game For This Message?

There has been another miracle-go-round debate on bigsoccer this week about swearing. Sometimes it feels like Groundhog's day over there. To me, I'm at the point where, whatever happens, happens... I could care less anymore about this. If our player gets fouled, I'm likely to say something not nice. And, if someone starts a chant. I'm not pointing my finger at a fellow Crew fan.

If that makes me a criminal, it makes me a criminal.

On the other hand, if it's just the PG chants. Then that's great and dandy with me as well. I just think we should be focusing on the important game on Thursday instead of this annoying, who is right sidebar all the time. I'm going to address it real quick in this thread and that's it hopefully until next March.

Wrong message for this game? Yes, I think so. Thread here.

I get if we are playing Real Salt Lake in July in a game with little to no significance, but this is a buzz kill.

It's the Eastern Conference Semifinal against Chicago, a hated rival with everything on the line, not a trip to Disneyland. But, the Nordecke will be muzzled or muted on Thursday. "No swearing!," is the message. Mark McCullers will reiterate all this in front of the section Thursday before the game.

I wouldn't be so against it at another time. Further, the last time he was on the mic in front of the section it was rather motivating, but this comes off as unnecessary at the moment.

The special message isn't necessary except if he is going to sing a song for us or do something entertaining with it. Plus, it's probably going to mean we will have to push the TIFO back to the start of the second half if he does it right before the game. Awesum! Don't worry all the TIFO's are PG.

Anyways, guess McCullers got alot of calls about the f-bombs last week. So, pregame, he's going to beg to the Nordecke to be on our best behavior so we don't mess up this important game for him and the FO on ESPN2. I kind of find it humourous. Look, the swearing is just because it's the playoffs with alot on the line, we cut out the organized swearing second half of the season, give us a break fellow ultra-conservative Crew fans. IT'S THE PLAYOFFS!!!

If this was 90 miles due North I don't even think this would even be an issue.

I guess I don't see the big deal about not swearing. I'm all for free speech, but I don't really understand this "It's a huge game! It's our rival! I have to cuss!" mentality. Is cussing really that big of a deal to 20 something adults and not 15 and 16 year olds?

As an "ultra conservative" who has been known to start some F word related chants i dont give a shit what people say. I think we should chant whatever we want IN THE NORDECKE. However, it was stupid and made me cringe against KC how we didnt say anything on the walk from the tracks to the gate until right when we get to the families someone starts screaming "F*CK KANSAS CITY!!!!" making us look like assholes. Can we keep the swearing to our section please and not do it 2 feet away from families? During the game is fine but not in the ticket line screaming

What you felt when the "F*CK KANSAS CITY" chant was started next to families is exactly what some of us feel when the same chant is started in the Nordecke. No matter where chants like that are started it represents us an entire group and "makes us look like assholes".

When you were walking to the stadium people were looking directly at you and they could clearly hear what was being said. The families in the stadium can also clearly hear what is being chanted when we're "IN THE NORDECKE".
