3/19/09: Moreno & Oughton Out For Home Opener, Possibly Frankie As Well.

According to Shawn Mitchell, Alejandro Moreno and Duncan Oughton have been called up and will miss the home opener against Toronto FC. Which leaves a big question for the Crew on who they will start at forward. Also, Frankie Hejduk could be joining the USA squad for their match against El Salvador.

According to Mitchell:
Moreno has been called up for Venezuela's qualifiers against Argentina on March 28 and Colombia on March 31.

Oughton will depart for Thailand on Monday morning for a pair of friendlies New Zealand will play on March 28 and 31. He'll rejoin the Crew in Salt Lake City in advance of its game with Real Salt Lake on April 2.

Umm, not really, he is our best striker.

That first guys probably a TFC fan. We could just put Noonan in and Oughton doesn't play much so I think we'll be fine there but if there's no Frankie we're in trouble.

I don't think were "in trouble". We are just giving some guys the opportunity to show what they can do in a big game. I think its a great thing, Iro will step in, O'rourke will slide over and Garey/Lenhart will get a chance to prove they are legit forwards. (Noonan is still out from his herniated disc in his lower back btw)

crewfighter - hi, same guy that posted @ 1:36 and yes im a crew fan

if, hypothetically, moreno really *was* our best striker... it would be only by a little bit.

hes kinda boring and has poopy style.

garey, noonan, lenhart, these guys are all way more exciting to watch.

lenhart and garey, when they did get time last season, they did not disappoint.

yea some people might say "oh well moreno had the most goals!..", ok well true, but how many were on the receiving end of GBS hard work? also, who DIDNT have a goal last season? orourke and hesmer?

.. though, his goal in the final was nice

oh yea, and thank god ezra retired

when i said moreno is boring, what i meant was:

in 2428 minutes, he made 19 shots on goal, of which only 9 went in.

lenhart, for example, made 4 goals (in 5 shots) in only 278 minutes

sorry i keep replying to myself, but that bicycle lenhart did in the first 10 minutes against NE late in the season still has me geeked.

just because someone is more flashy doesn't mean three better.. I mean i respect your opinion i guess but Ale is a work horse best forward hands down

@scott, fair enough. ill admit i would rather see the crew play an exciting game and lose, then to watch a boring game where they win.

i guess it comes down to personal preference really

Moreno is a hell of alot better then Lenhart or Garey right now.

And, I don't know how you can be geeked when the bicycle missed. If he scored it great, but nothing geeks me unless it goes into the net.

I may be wrong but I think ries tipped it out. Either way that is still sick for lenhart cause he was a rookie. I wish moreno would do that then I'd like him.
