I understand that it's March Madness and whatnot but I tune to a local FM (used to be AM) sports station at 12:05pm to hear about some whiny pad wearing wanna be named Jay Cutler. He plays American football in Denver if you don't know that....and that is Topic A? First on Columbus sports fans minds is "I wonder where Jay Cutler will go? ".
I could buy OSU v. Siena, I mean this is March after all and the Crew are away to start their campaign, but please...Jay F*&*^%* Cutler???
So I call 614.821.9710 got through on 2 rings (means no one is listening) and proceeded to ask a question to the producer/call screener. Here is what roughly transpires:
Me: Are you taking predictions for the big game tomorrow night?
Producer: What game?
Me: The Crew v. Dynamo tomorrow night....come on you don't know that?
Producer: Uh...
Me: This is your job, dude. You are a sport radio producer
Producer: Well there are a lot of games tomorrow, this is March Madness.
Me: Right, but not locally. Okay. My bad, I'm just a little excited about watching the Crew defend the Cup.
Producer: Yeah, we do have a lot going on right now, I'll try to see if we have time to talk some Crew today.
Me: Appreciate it.
Producer: Um what time do they play?
Me: (in disbelief) 8pm in Houston on Fox Soccer Channel.
Producer: Alright, thanks....* Click *
Again a sports radio producer does not know when the only team in Columbus to do anything since 2002 (the Jackets are on their way this season) is playing their first game!?!???!?
So thank God for the Dispatch, Shawn Mitchell, Mike Arace, Bob Hunter and all the guys down on 34 South Third Street. KEEP THEM IN BUSINESS, BUY A NEWSPAPER EVERY DAY OR JUST DO WHAT I DO AND SUBSCRIBE!

That's pretty bad.
There are more important things to talk about like Jay Cutler and March Madness. I could care less about either.
Just throwing this out there, what do you think about organizing a write in to all major media outlets in the next coming weeks with the Nordecke to bring more awareness. I feel like they would talk about it if they knew how massive we were.
Post some addresses. Set up a plan and I'll have at least three people scathing.
That's bollocks, but that's Columbus Radio for ya! I'd definetaly be in for the Awareness. Like you said, if people only KNEW how MASSIVE the Crew are, they'd be in on it. I did a project on Football support across the world and when I showed them a clip of the Nordecke, no one believed it was the Crew!!!
can i be on the podcast? thanks
I'm for a write in and call in on Fridays before games and Mondays after games. I'll forgive them if they don't talk about the Crew on a tuesday in January, but they gotta get their act together as do we.
One thing I learned from watching Seattle last night is that they are very organized. While their passion might come into question on a thursday night game in June when they are sub. 500, at least they have properly made their presence known to the Seattle media. We need to do the same.
Here's the numbers:
97.1 FM
614.821.9710
The only local shows are
The Midday Show 12-2pm
The Big Show 4-6pm
Call in, be courteous, and be heard! We don't need to come across as arrogant euro trash, because we are not. Just simply ask them if they are taking calls on the Crew and if they are not, ask them why.
WE ARE ..... MASSIVE!
hi crewfighter, have you seen this? http://www.mlstifo.com/2009/03/video-of-how-to-make-smoke-bombs-with.html
