Venezuela bounced back nicely from a 4-0 defeat to Argentina with a 2-0 win at home against Colombia last night. Alejandro Moreno played 90 minutes in this game, after being a second half sub against Argentina at the 50th minute mark. It seems Ale is making a name for himself in the squad as he paired nicely last night with youngster Nicolas Fedor and scored in a 3-1 win over Ecuador the game before Argentina. Venezuela has 4 wins, 1 tie, and 7 losses in qualifying. They have six games left including Bolivia away, Uruguay at home, Chile away, Peru at home, Paraguay at home, and then they finish up on the road against Brazil. The win last night at home was crucial for Venezuela to stay in the hunt. In South America, the top four teams qualify, while the fifth place team has a good chance as well against the fourth place side from CONCACAF in a playoff. Right now Venezuela has 13 points, 3 behind the fifth place side Uruguay who has 16 points and five behind the fourth place side Brazil with 18 points. There are still 18 points left on the table for Venezuela, which means if they can beat Uruguay along with some of the weaker teams they have left they will have a surprising shot at that fifth spot.

**Moreno Has Heavy Responsibility, Excerpt:

"We're in the mix and giving ourself a chance," said Moreno, who was born in Barquisimeto, grew up in Caracas, and came to United States in 1998 to attend UNC Greensboro. "In most years at this point we would have already been out of it, so we're in the mix and we're beating some of the teams we should beat."

"At this point in my career, I think I appreciate it more because I don't know if and when I'll be back for a World Cup qualifier or an MLS Cup final," he says. "When those things happen, I want to make the most of it. It's a very good opportunity for me as an individual and for us as a group to make the most of opportunities as they unfold."

EXPECT MORENO AND HEJDUK TO START IN REAL SALT LAKE ON THURSDAY TO GIVE US A MUCH NEEDED BOOST OF VETERANS AND DIRECTION.

For the idiot who keeps saying Moreno sucks. He is good enough to play against Brazil and Argentina. He is good enough to score against Ecuador. He is good enough to be paired up with Nicolas Fedor who is signed up with Valencia and on loan now to Salamanca of Spanish Second Division. He is good enough to score 10 goals for us.

Do you really think Garey or Lenhart would be able to go up against South American sides without shitting their pants?

Your an idiot

P.S. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just get annoyed with every message being about Moreno. When he is a pretty damn good striker.
