Eddie Lewis winds up for his goal scoring tie against the impenetrable Andy Greunebaum.
**To start out with, Eric Brunner is probably 20 times the player O'Rourke is. Lets just seal the deal on the O'Rourke saga and put Brunner in central defense as the full time starter. Brunner has better height, in all probability much better speed and skills, and definitely more patience. He is also less likely to put this team in a stituation to give up late minute red cards or penalty kicks.
Oh, and we still get that hometown feel. Probably the main reason O'Rourke gets a free pass as often as he does.
**Warzycha with the ties is starting to wear out his welcome. If we are dominating a game, keep playing at that same level. Instead of bunkering once we get a goal. We played a scared last 15 minutes against a team that has one(maybe two) good players in Donovan and Ricketts.
**I'm pretty confident that each late game tie we have had, or at least all but one has come after Guillermo has been subbed out. I don't know what that means, but it almost seems like the Crew hits the off switch as soon as Guillermo hits the bench.
**We need a real striker. We dominated a very poor LA Galaxy team all game. It should have been 4-0. But, our attack has no finishing ability. Moreno and Gaven like to beat the last defender and then fall down a lot(I guess it's easier to hope for a phantom PK foul then actually try to finish a good scoring opportunity). And, Moreno just does not have any speed. If the guy had speed he would be a dream striker, he would probably be the best striker in MLS with all of his other attributes. But, he is just too slow and can't finish.
Come July we need to find ourselves a 20 goals a year striker.
**Rogers needs to get confident again and not be scared to take on glorious defenders (roll eyes) like Tony "Big Cat" Sanneh.
**How was the opportunity with Guillermo in the 84th not converted? Whoever Guillermo passed it to, I think Moreno, needs to go to finishing school.
**Overall, maybe Warzycha is just a bad coach. It's not the end of the world. We all like the guy. But, some players are just good players and don't translate into competent coaches.
It's just hard to find anywhere else to point to when the Crew are 100 times the team based on skills and overall ability then the LA team they faced today. But, they can't finish any of their opportunities, finally finish a gift, then they bunker down and cower against a sh*t side instead of going for the juggular in the last 15 minutes.
The late ties, all six of them, sort of show that maybe, just maybe the game plan after we get a lead needs to be switched up. That means not to cower, but to play the same game that got you the lead in the first place.
One could say on our previous ties, as Mitchell did, that they were all against good sides. Well, LA is not a good team at all. They are awful in just about every facet of the game. It's just unacceptable to tie a game that your side has the ability to win 4-0. It's unacceptable to cower against crap sides, because even old foggies and USL talents are going to finish a chance at some point over 90 minutes if you do so.

Why the cheapshot at Andy? I don't think Iker Casillas would've saved that shot.
Other than that, it was fairly spot-on.
Now I can't really comment on the game as I was, unfortuantely, unable to watch it. But from the sound of it, people are finally starting to catch on!
I'm with the comment above in that it's a little harsh to say Gruenebaum could've saved that shot... I saw that highlight and that was a bomb.
I don't think that it's the mentality of Warzycha that's the problem... A guy like him knows what he is talking about. I'm interested in knowing how emotional he is compared to Sigi. I think that the main reason that we did so well all last season was because we were high on emotion. It'e time he stops being the assistant coach and be the head coach.
As for Brunner, could not agree more. He should have started every game since whenever he started getting time! He was a very solid player in the back, as oppose to O'Rourke who has a tendency to kick the ball straight up and get stupid fouls.
Robbie Rogers = fail. He will not go to Europe any time soon, as I have heard some people refer to him an "exciting" player. He might need to be benched once Moffat gets back to 100% and Gaven is pushed out wide.
As much as I like Moreno, it's time we get someone else to finish GBS passes.
GBS is a man. Enough said.
I'm not trying to bash my team and say that they suck and I will only root for them when they win. No, I hope to GOD that they get better. I will always remain loyal to this team and hopefully the begin to say to themselves that this is pretty embarresing and just get the job done.
It was more the mistake of passing it to the other team early in the game. I just don't rate him.
I agree it was a tough shot to stop. I'm just not sure if Andy G. has any stops in him.
Kind of plays as a scared keeper. You see that on the TFC goal in Toronto and the one he muffed last week against Kansas City.
Wasn't the main problem as LA did not give him much to worry about. But, my frustration with this team leads to a cheapshot or two.
My bad.
I'm always loyal to this team and will be there no matter zirrard. That doesn't mean I have to be nice when they suck.
If they played great, there would be no need.
Crewfighter- I agree with you completely. In fact, I believe that it's the ones who know whats wrong with their teams that are the best fans. You've proven that you know what you are talking about, as I rarely see anything in this blog that is just wrong. You know your stuff. I was merely backing myself up as I thought that I, in my last comment, kind of ripped into them as though the've sucked all season. They have not.
And I know what you mean with Gruenebaum. I gave him less than 2 years (and that's pretty generous) left in this league because he has yet to prove he's a competent goalie. But I don't even think Hesmer is saving that shot.
I understood where you were coming from- team loses FRUSTRATING game, you get mad, you need someone to blame. But Andy had nothing to do with why we lost.
We lost because of Danny, substituations, tactics, luck, Ale, Robbie, Supermanu, and Eddie. We need to score, and thats a fact(fuck you rafa).
andy g - i agree that shot was a rocket, but i dont trust him nonetheless. I really dont recall seeing him do any parrys or diving shots..ever. he really only runs up to snatch the ball. i cant see him making the same sort of game-saving blocks hesmer did last season
moreno - again i agree, and in fact, i have been eager to see him go for over a year now. his goal a couple weeks ago was nice (bought the beer), and i liked his part in the back heel (really didnt expect him to show that class), but yea, he played an absolutely forgettable game.
ekpo - i liked him last year, his style of play sort of reminded me of kei kamara whom i also liked..err anyways, he keeps getting better and better. its going to suck when he goes to a european team in a couple seasons.
gbs - is anyone else wondering why he is still getting better at his age? i thought he would of plateued by now.. that goal yesterday was like "oh well i guess no one else is gonna score, i might as well do it myself..."
besides the whole "crew-playing-like-the-crew-in-2009" thing in the last 10, well actually stoppage time this time, i feel they played not only well, but classy the rest of the game.
We can't do anything about our keeper situation!
Our defense is not acting the way it did last year. Danny needs to be taken off! He thinks hes Frankie! We have nothing to lose with putting Brunner in the starting lineup I think it would be a wise choice.
We have a dream midfield there is no doubt about that so no changes there.
Moreno IS in fact slow. Hes up there to just hold the ball and wait for backup. We I think we need a striker thats gonna take that ball and run! Someone thats gonna shot not wait for another guy that has a worse look at goal. We don't have the greatest forwards but we do have Noonan which is a veteran. He knows how to score thats why we got him! So why not put him up there with GBS it just might work
