Crew To Sign Nyazamba

Columbus Crew are set to sign USL-2 Rookie of the Year, twenty-five year old Stanley Nyazamba, according to Mitchell. The Zimbabwean midfielder Nyazamba recorded 6 goals in 16 games for the Richmond Kickers this year and must have impressed Sigi to get a spot. Even with this in mind, how will Nyazamba ever see time when the Crew have Noonan and Ekpo coming off their bench? Trust me he might(ahem.. Moffat), this is a good move. No reason to complain about midfield depth at all, even though we have copius ammounts of midfield depth.

My thinking now is, nothing to worry about Crew fans because Sigi has a plan.

And, it goes like this. If Nyazamba turns out to be the real deal like Moffat, then it gives Sigi another option(and a cheap one at that) on how he wants to go about the off-season and even what he wants to use this season (the Crew now have Guillermo, Gaven, Rogers, Carroll, Evans, Ekpo, Noonan, Moffat, Miglioranzi, Oughton, Plotkin and now Nyazamba). If we are facing off against some slow defenders and Rogers is off on US duty. Then throw in the African speedsters, Ekpo and Nyazamba.

I'm happy about this deal. If Moffat is any inclination, Sigi knows how to evaluate USL-2 talent. And, if Nyazamba turns into our Moff-esque USL-2 deal of the year(Sigi is starting a trend) then that's perfectly fine with me. The more players worth something in yellow the better.

Don't forget he's a player that wouldn't hurt us to lose in the Expansion Draft. If he turns out to be a decent signing they may take him off our hands and save us from losing another great player. Or if we lose a expo or noonan this guy just adds more depth and continuity in the mid which will come in handy filling the gap.
